It was innocent at first
A stranger’s remarks “Hi” and “Hello”
Greeted our encounter, our gaze
There was no chain of beholden – it was simple
But time grew our familiarity
It was as though aliens, we had found the bond in our constant crisscrossing
We had grown
“Hi, my dear” or “how’s your day been love”
We will share our fervor to know
It was this same time, I enjoyed attention
I heed to the wisdom of the wise, ‘enjoy while it last’
Then the days of regular text chat became voice calls
Then the eyes could not wait in skepticism,
So our videos did the magic
Time became our enemy, because the day and night were short
Once a while we would pop the question
“What happened to us over night, how did we get this close?”
Left unchecked, it blossomed
Feeding fast on its physical pleasures
Things become more intimate,
Lots of hugs and kisses and pleasing touches, places where it grew a smile
Even though it wasn’t right, it felt right.
It was foolishness, but seemed harmless, so we enjoyed it
I guess it’s the reason the heart sits beneath the head
Sweet like honey, we will not spit out
For we are only but strangers, entwined in thorns of the heart
If it arrives in laughs or cries
We shall continue to eat the pudding of its fruits
And the honey drips of silver we drink from the cups of our lips
